It Freebie Time!

Thank God It's Freebie Friday!

It is time for another fabulous freebie from Sassy Studio Designs!

This time the challenge is to make anything but a card!

I have been on such an ornament kick I decided, why not?

May as well keep the theme going.

So here is my ornament using "Waiting For Santa" (the boy version)

I used invisible thread to hang the 2011...I may add a little charm to give some

weight to it...it seems to want to turn a bit...I have the date on both sides but the image only on one.

Don't forget to go get your image on the SSD forum on PCP!

Hurry it will only be there all day today!

SALE SALE SALE

Guylou's Inimitability is having a sale starting Dec 26th!
Yes that's right...A SALE!

I have seen "Boxing Day" on my calendar for years but
never knew what it meant. With having so many new friends
that are from Canada I figured I better learn!
Boxing Day was traditionally known as the day to open the Christmas Box
to share it's contents with the poor. The actual box was a wooden or clay
box where people would place gifts. Over the many years
these boxes were used in many different ways:
An Alms box that was placed in church on Christmas day

A box that was put on every ship...put there by a priest and
the crewmen would put money in it to ensure a safe voyage...it was sealed and
only if the ship came home safely, it was given to the priest for saying Mass over the voyage...
the box was saved for Christmas and opened for the poor

As a present to workers...many workers had to work on Christmas day and
took the 26th off for family time...upon leaving for the day
on the 25th owners would pass out boxes. Land owners
would even box up left overs and put them in the boxes for the laborers.

Today people still carry on this tradition..by passing out
tips or bonuses to people like the mailman, paperboy, gardeners etc..

You learn something new everyday!
Thank you for spending time reading my blog!
Enjoy the sale at GI!!!

Jenna's Winter Formal

Hiya everybody!
Hope you are having a great weekend.
My in-laws have been here since Tuesday and we have been having a wonderful time.

Last night was Jenna's first high school dance.
She was a bit ervous at first...had a few butterflies going on.
But after a few minutes and the first song started she was fine!
Here are a few pictures:

I think she looks beautiful!
Dave gave her a hard time about her "boyfriend", but what are dad's for!

Some Trays I Made

These are some other projects I have been working on....

The first one is for my mother in-law. I choose the
Lord's prayer (found the image from McMahon 5) and
did a little bit of changing to it...I wanted a different font and copied
the flowers to have them on both sides of the prayer.
I tore up some papers from Prima Romantique added the flowers that
are also from the same collection.
The other tray is for my mom...I colored a scene I created from digi's
from Make It Crafty...it was a lot of coloring! LOL
Added some sea shells and a cherish quote.
I used modge pode for paper to seal and glue it all in and the added
"Qucik Water" from Michael's over the top.
After I poured the "water" I check on them every hour...one of
the time I went out to check on them, the paper had landed on the top of my MIL
and stuck to it. I fixed it the best I could and hoped for the best.
After 12 hours it was still tacky on the top...after 29 hours it was
stil tacky on top..so I added some modge podge on the top
and Viola! It worked!
The tray for my mom I figured she could use in her bathroom to
hold some of her bottles and makeup stuff!
The one for my MIL I figured she could put it on her coffee table
for remotes or whatever.
Jenna has her dance tonight so I will post some pictures tomorrow!
hugs!

Happy Friday!

WHEW Finally have something to show for all the work
I have been doing! LOL
I got all 4 Angels from Scrapper's Delights...
check them out here.
When I saw them I fell in love and immediately thought
of my step mom. She has always loved angels!
So I decided to make her a swag for Christmas.
I have colored probably a dozen before I decided on colors and style.
Then it took me a few days and a lot of ribbon before I decided on the layout.
Here is what I came up with...there are 2 swags....

 I choose red:
Green:
and Gold:
I really hope she likes it! Now if I can only get it wrapped and to the Post Office! LOL

I used prismamarkers for coloring, the ribbon was from Target and the snowflakes from Michael's.

These are the challenges I would like to enter:

Colour Create                                                            Red White and Green
Dutch Dare Challenge                                           Winged things

Just Dropping By With A Hi

Wow time has just gotten away from me.
I am trying to finish a few gifts and can't seem to find the extra hours in the day!
This weekend is not only my daughters and step sons winter formal...
bought the dress yesterday!
But it is also our family Christmas. Dave's parents come out a few weeks
before Christmas to have a dinner with the whole family! They stay with us.
So Saturday after work we are going to a resturant and meeting
Dave's brother and his family, Dave's ex wife and her husband, a friend of the family
and his family, our three kids and of course Dave's parents.
I am hoping to finish a few thing tomorrow...I have the day off and
no dress shopping on my schedule! LOL

So hopefully I will post a project soon!!!
